1000 Springs Resort - Hagerman Idaho

1000 Springs Resort is one of the best places to enjoy the Snake River in Southern Idaho. It is across the river from Ritter Island and has great views of Minnie Miller Spring and other springs in the 1000 Spring area. The resort has a large swimming pool and rooms with hot baths. Along the river there are docks for tying up a boat if you have one. The resort also has it's own boats to take you on tours of the river. There is a camp ground with grassy areas for tents and an area for RVs.  There are also two cute cabins available.

Location: 18734 HWY 30 Hagerman, Idaho  The resort is about 6 miles south of Hagerman.

Cost: Camping starts at $25 a night. Swimming is $3.00 for children from ages 1-5. $6 for children from 6-17, $7 for adults, and $3 for seniors over age 65.

Operating Seasons and Hours: Pool, Cabins, Campground, and Boat Docks are open all year though water to the campground and cabins is shut off in the winter. Office is open from 11:00 am to about 8:30 at night.

Date of Visit:  Friday, April 5, 2019

This was an accidental stop on our Idaho Road Trip in May of 2018. We were driving from Balanced Rock in Buhl to the Hagerman Fossil Beds. We stopped in the parking lot for 1000 Springs Resort in order to get pictures of Minnie Miller Springs across the Snake River. As I took the pictures I noticed that 1000 Springs Resort had a nice campground. I made a mental note to maybe come back here on a future trip.

That future trip happened in April of 2019. We were thinking of moving to Twin Falls after Brandon graduated and so we wanted to spend the night in the area and see some more of the sights.

I remembered 1000 Springs Resort. It was a little too early in the season to think about camping. But I wondered if there were cabins at the resort. When I looked on the website I saw that there were two cabins on site.

At the time there was no way to book our stay online. So I had to call to make a reservation. I wasn't too impressed by the staff because the first person that answered the phone told me they didn't know how to do a reservation and that I should call back later. I felt like telling her that the first rule of business is to call the customer back if they want to buy something from you. But I didn't want to be rude. Plus I figured if I had to jump through a few hoops to get a reservation maybe that meant other people hadn't done that and one of the cabins would be available even though I was making the reservation only a few days before our stay.

Eventually I was able to make the reservation. Not only was one cabin still available, both were available. I picked Cabin #2 because it held more people.

Overall our stay was great. We all loved our stay at 1000 Springs Resort. But I have to say, the word resort is a bit of a misleading description for this place. I told Brandon that it feels kind of like what you would expect from a resort in Soviet Russia. The main building is constructed of cement and cinder block.  All the buildings on the property look a little run down. Also there is no cell phone service in this area.  So don't expect your calls to come through.

If you are looking for a resort with luxury and pampering and decadence this is not the place for you.

However, if you are looking for a cost effective location with beautiful views, a fun place to swim, and a nice place to spend the night then 1000 Springs Resort will be perfect.

Let me show you around.

The main building holds the office as well as the pool. The pool was one of the things that we were all excited about. Originally we'd thought about staying in a hotel with a pool. But by the time I planned this trip there weren't any hotels with pools left in our price range.

The pool is quite large. It has fun things like a water slide and a huge log that people tried to climb on. Since my kids are still young I appreciated the shallow kiddie pool that was separated from the main pool by a cement wall. It was nice to know that my kids weren't going to drift off into the deeper water.
The water is warm and full of minerals. We had a great time playing in the water for several hours.

Separate from the pool are small rooms for hot baths. You can reserve the rooms for 30 minute intervals.  None of the kids were impressed by our room so we didn't stay long. We could hear upbeat music and laughter coming from other rooms in the hall so I know other people enjoyed the baths.  Maybe we'll try again when the kids are older.

I have to talk about the changing/rest rooms.  They were scary. The doors on the stalls didn't lock - and I seem to remember that one of the stalls just had a curtain rather than a door. The floor was wet and dirty looking. I was not a fan of the bathrooms. If you can, change into your swimming suit before you come to the pool.

The cabins on the other hand were wonderful. This was the cutest little campground cabin we've ever stayed in. My two oldest children loved the loft and the younger two were very happy with the bunk bed. The queen sized bed was comfortable for Brandon and me.

We stayed in Cabin #2. This cabin does not have a bathroom so we had to run to the bathroom on the other side of the parking lot, but other than that the cabin was perfect.  For a little bit of extra money we could have stayed in Cabin #1 which does have a bathroom, but I think the water was still off during our stay so the bathroom wasn't available anyway.

The two cabins are next to the tent camping area.  There is also an RV area on the other side of the main building. Both campground areas have lots of trees and grass.  They are right on the edge of the river so they have beautiful views of the area.
Separate from the main building is an event building.  This would be a great place for a wedding or party.
The resort also offers tours of the area on their boats. I hear taking a tour from 1000 Springs is one of the best ways to see Blue Hearts Spring.
Whatever you do while you are at 1000 Springs Resort make sure you take a moment to admire the Snake River. The low banks on this side of the river make this an easy place to admire the river.

You will also have a good view of many of the "1000" Springs across the river. Minnie Miller Spring is of particular note.  This is the only spring along this section of the Snake River where the water runs from the canyon wall to the river without being diverted. All the other springs have their run off diverted for use in agriculture, fish hatcheries, or hydroelectric projects.  Minnie Miller Spring does not.

Recommendation: If you don't expect this to be a luxury resort then you will have an enjoyable visit to 1000 Springs Resort.

Directions: 1000 Springs Resort is located about 30 miles east of Twin Falls and about 6 miles south of the main part of Hagerman. It is located along Highway 30 and is hard to miss.

Places Nearby: Banbury and Miracle Hot Springs are other resorts in the area. I haven't been to them yet so I can't compare them to 1000 Springs Resort.

Next Stop: Our next stop after staying at the resort was to drive to Ritter Island.
